The Best Light Displays to Check Out Around the Country
December 8, 2017This time of year is truly magical – the smell of pine trees, hot chocolate and cinnamon seems to hang in the air wherever you go, patiently waiting for the first snow of the season, and of course, checking off everybody on your gift list. While you’re busy getting things together for the big day(s), make sure to take the time to enjoy one of the most beautiful parts of the season: holiday lights. Wherever you are, there are some amazing lights just a drive away.
New York Metro
If you’re within driving distance of New York City, now’s the time to visit. The entire city lights up in a true holiday fashion – from the famous lights at Rockefeller Center and stores of Fifth Avenue in Manhattan, to the enchanting displays of the New York Botanical Gardens in The Bronx, to the World’s Largest Menorah in Brooklyn. As always, New York has something for everybody.
The Southeast
The South is bustling with holiday spirit – and they let it show.
It seems like every southern state has make sure to visit Winter in Graceland at the home of the King of Rock and Roll, Christmas at the glamourous Biltmore Estate in North Carolina, and the Smoky Mountain Christmas Festival at – where else – Dollywood!
West Coast
The West Coast is the Best Coast… isn’t that how the saying goes? When it comes to putting on a show of lights, they may not be the best, but they’re definitely in the running for it.
If you’re in Cali, go wild at the Los Angeles Zoo and check out the jaw-dropping displays they have up, or take a walk down Candy Cane Lane in South Bay.
For those further north up the coast, you can’t go wrong with the Festival of Lights at The Grotto in Portland, or stopping by the Oregon Zoo!
