Some “rules” are made to be broken. Who says you can’t wear white after Labor Day or velvet after New Year’s? Velvet is the perfect fabric for winter weather; you just have to know how to pull it off.
The trick is to pair fancy velvet pieces with casual fabrics such as wool or denim. Or pair a feminine velvet piece with a more tailored item such as a blazer.
Wear velvet palazzo pants or a wrap dress with chunky boots for daytime, strappy heels for evening.
Velvet accessories – a headband, sling bag or baker boy hat – literally add a soft touch to any outfit.
